Team REVolution powers up for ‘08

The crew in December
Fielding a tough crew for the 2008 season, Team Revolution aims to make its mark on the women’s Midwest racing circuit. Along with experienced and dynamic team leader, Carrie Cash, the elite squad sports powerhouse Bri Kovac, Indiana state time trial record holder; up and coming collegiates Pam Loebig and Kendi Thomas; lover of all conditions adverse, Katie Weber; and the ever aggressive Sydney Brown.

“The team dynamics are just awesome. That, combined with everybody’s willingness to evaluate skills and grow, is a real thrill. I think we’re gonna turn some heads,” Cash said.

With its eyes on the future, and in consideration of its core mission of inspiring women of all ages to ride for competition, recreation, health and fitness - Team Revolution’s racing teams include women from 19 to 66-years-old.

TeamRev’s most senior member and recent addition to the development team, Nebraskan Nancy Brown, started her racing career last fall by diving into cyclocross. Though lauded by many as the most difficult of the disciplines, and despite her friends’ doubts about her sanity, she’s gone ahead and set her racing goals for 2008 and 2009. Mission highlights include another gold medal at Cyclocross Nationals and an appearance at the Senior Games in San Francisco in August 2009. Find out more about Nancy in the next issue of Cyclocross Magazine!

Other development team members include the following:
Chris Roettger, a wicked strategist, Jessica Meyer, who’s honing a mean sprint, along with racing newcomers Allison Braddock, Teresa Sedlacek, Ruth Galpin, Steph Nadeau, Jamie Valencheck and Jessica King.

“We’re super excited about how Chris and Jessica are stepping up their games this season and are hoping they cat on up and join us in the elite field come mid-season,” Cash said.

The excitement doesn’t stop with the racers, however. Sponsors also showed their support for TeamRev’s growth. XPLANE, “The Visual Thinking Company”, returned for a second year, as did DeFeet, Adidas, Polar, 5 Hour Energy, Elete, Panaracer, SRAM and Northwave. Also on board for 2008 are Nebraska based Revolution Vehicle Wraps and TREK Stores of St. Louis, Kansas City, and Omaha, Nebraska.

“We’re excited about Team Revolution because these women excel in their sport in addition to pursuing excellence in their professional lives, and that’s the sort of mindset we like to be involved with,” said Scott Stara, owner.

“We’re thrilled to have both these new sponsorships. The vehicle wraps are really going to help bring greater visibility for our organization and the women’s specific Trek Madones, well, those are gonna help us give a rear view to our competition,” laughed Cash.

Although racers are located throughout the central states and will attend many local races in addition to their team schedule, Team Revolution plans to unleash full squads on the following fields:

3/29 - Hillsboro-Roubaix Road Race - Hillsboro, IL
5/3 - Sunny King Crit - Anniston, AL
