First race of the season for the five of us. Carrie and I headed to Indy and met up with our teamies to finish the trip to California. Kentucky. Just south of Cincinnati. Today’s race was 40+ miles of the hilliest “flat” course I’ve seen in a while.
The five of us went off with a men’s field where Bri and Katie mixed it up with some attacks. Fun stuff. Carrie took a pedal or skewer or some phantom object to her wheel less than 10 miles into the race…enough to bend a few spokes and wank her wheel. Not enough to crash, not enough to blow it out, but enough that 20 guys made sure to point out her wheel might be out of true. She was a trooper and rode nearly 40 miles with her brake rubbing in a spot the whole time. The term “trooper” somehow seems an understatement…
out of true movie
With 4-5 miles to go, Bri was off the front with a few strong guys and it looked good to stick. But not enough cooperation in that group let the field catch them with half mile to go. Still a strong finish for everyone and we’re excited for tomorrow’s “hilly” course, seeing as how today’s was so flat (not).
Giddy up!

Ever ridden with someone who is constantly 10 yards or even a half mile ahead of you? It’s not enjoyable. We understand that no one learns overnight and everyone needs someone encouraging to ride with.
We try to accommodate all women with a means to ride: through finding bikes to borrow or rent, supplying new pedals someone’s been dying to try or giving the encouragement and advice necessary to climb that hill a bit easier, and more efficiently. As each woman learns to ride at higher levels we help pave the way to personal success, determined by each individual.
Team Revolution aims to be the resource and community for all women seeking direction, information, ride assistance, ride partners, and encouragement. Here is a list of clinics that will be offered in 2008 to help get more women riding bikes and staying fit:
+ Winter Maintenance
+ Monthly Roadside Repairs
+ Base Training Basics
+ Century Training
+ Learn to Race (101 and 201)
