Criterium: What it is


**Disclaimer** We are not a RACE-only club. I’m posting this in response to a request to do so. The club does lots of non-racing stuff.

Here’s an infographic I did last year hoping to explain some of the dynamics of “crit” racing. I had planned to do a series. I haven’t. Don’t make me feel guilty. But feel free to let me know if you find this useful (and wish to see more).

Joe Martin Stage Race 2008 - 3/4 Crit

I have never done a Cat 3/4 crit before, and I knew this would be challenging. Racing with them on an easy course would have been hard enough, but we were racing them on a course that was rated one of the top 5 most challenging crit courses in the nation (by Velo news). Tour of St. Louis - Cat4W recap (JamieV)

Well, its all over now. Three races in two days…a first for me. It was interesting to see how the legs and body respond to multiple days in a row of hard efforts. I definitely felt the fatigue set in.

Saturday Morning Crit:
Bright and early was the first crit in Carondelet Park. Nice course, wide open turns, but pretty windy on the back of the course with a couple small hills/inclines - including a pretty nice grade to the finish.
