Tubby Tuffy on the Huffy

In 1977 my mom bought a black and yellow Huffy for me, similar to this one. I was six and it was my first “real” bike. Why I Race

We’re on the cusp of racing season so I’m going to do a bit of navel-gazing about why I race bicycles.

1. I primarily race because it gives me an excuse to train, which I love to do. Training, in turn, allows me to not feel so bad about the entire bag of pork rinds I ate today.
2. Racing allows me to take unpaid vacation days to travel to exciting destinations such as Springfield, MO, Fayetteville, AL, and Burlington, IA.
