Just an FYI:
We will be starting up this ride for 2010 soon
(pending weather and trail conditions)
See here for weekly updates.
I will post by 3PM on Mondays - if "NO-GO"
Calling all Team Revolution Mountain/Cross Bike Racers/Riders:
For a Big Bang @ Bangert Island. It will give you a great workout (ea week) on the trails through the woods (in the dark).
Feel the coolness of the night air and the darkness surround you as you whisk thru trees, pop off dirt mounds and fly over rock ramps. The only light provided is from what is attached to your helmet AND handlebars...well...maybe a quick beam bounce from the other Team Rever’s out there with you.
Roll time: 6PM
Bangert Island Info:

Is an island in the Missouri River just south of the Blanchette Bridge, the Louis H. Bangert Memorial Wildlife Area (Bangert Island) is a joint partnership between the Missouri Department of Conservation and the St. Charles County Parks Department.
We have a permit that will allow just our group to ride after dark. The following must be met in order to ride:
1. A Good helmet
2. Good lights (see descriptions below)
3. Proper clothing for cold weather riding.
Our permit allows us to ride from 6PM till 8PM – then we need to vacate the park. We can continue the fun times by either tailgating at our cars or go someplace warm for an adult beverage & laughs. We can park at the Lewis & Clark parking lot (next to the lower lot of the St Charles Casino - near Trailhead B & G).
We will roll out of the parking lot by 6PM and ride on the Katy Trail @ .5 miles to the Park Entrance and start the fun on the trails. If you can’t make it by 6pm roll out then come and join us anytime during the window and join in. We will be doing loops and will come out for a breather (rest) to rejoin any late comers.
I promised the Park Officials we would pick up any trash and take it back out of the park with us. (I will bring a bag ea week to carry it in).
Below is the scoop on the differences in the bike lights: (from Traci @ Alpine Shop)
1. NiteRider MiNewt 200 -
This light retails for $200. It has 200 lumens with three different light settings hi, med, lo). The light will run for 7 hrs on low or 3:30 hrs on high. This comes with a handlebar mount only. You would have to get the helmet mount accessory and 36" extension cord (additional prices).
2. NiteRider MiNewt Mini USB Plus -
This light retails for $130. It has 110 lumens with only an on/off setting. It will run for 3 hrs. This light comes with the handlebar mount, charger, helmet mount and 36" extension. You can also charge this light off of a computer (aka USB).
3. Princeton Tech EOS Bike Light -
This light retails for $50 with 50 lumens. It comes with a handlebar mount, helmet mount and a strap to use it like a headlamp. I really like how bright this little light is - it has also received rave reviews in many cycling magazines
Team Revolution members receive a 20% discount on parts with our shop. I think the brighter one would work better on the helmet since it's shining where you are looking. The lower power one would be fine lighting the trail directly ahead of you.
So come out and join the fun (in the darkness):)
Please comment here with any questions, comments or deets I may have left out.
This is a great opportunity for NEWBIE "Night Riders" as well!!!
