Divine Intervention

As I pulled on to the Concordia Seminary lot, I saw Steph, Kube, and Susan out on the lot. The look of utter disappointment on their faces was clear. As I looked towards the gym, I noticed the lights were out. I was beginning to put two and two together. The gym, which is the home of our Wednesday night spin, was closed! Uh oh. Being the heathens that we were, we had overlooked the fact that it was Ash Wednesday. What should we do? Crit practice around the gym was ruled out due to lack of helmets. Run laps around the gym? Well…we are a cycling club. I have to admit, bagging the whole fitness thing and going for cocktails at Sasha’s crossed my mind.

Carrie pulled up and looked at all of us loitering on the lot like a bunch of hoodlums. “What’s up?” she asked. “Ash Wednesday” we said. ”Oh…”

Then a combination of Team Rev “out of the box thinking” and divine intervention collided. There is no law that says you have to spin inside. By God we’ll spin outside! Right here on the parking lot. Cool! What an awesome venue for spinning. Divine intervention? God shined down on this pack of heathens with some unbelievable 60 something weather. Those who were pi##ed that they had to work instead of ride today were given their just dues. 60ish in February. Who’d a thunk!

Game on! We’re spinning! Tunes were cranked from Casper’s CD player. God’s light, in the form of a dusk to dawn light shined down on us. Carrie, uphill on rollers and dodging big red ball launches from Gavin, led us through one heck of a spin. Heart rates were up. So were spirits.

Chalk it up as another “remember when” moment.

Rev on
