Ever ridden with someone who is constantly 10 yards or even
a half mile ahead of you? It's not enjoyable. We understand that no one
learns overnight and everyone needs someone encouraging
to ride with.
We try to accommodate all women with a means to ride: through
finding bikes to borrow or rent, supplying new pedals someone's
been dying to try or giving the encouragement and advice necessary
to climb that hill a bit easier, and more efficiently. As each
woman learns to ride at higher levels we help pave the way to
personal success, determined by each individual.
Team Revolution aims to be the resource and community for all
women seeking direction, information, ride assistance, ride
partners, and encouragement. Below is a list of clinics that will
be offered in 2007/2008 to help get more women riding bikes and staying fit:
+ Indoor Riding/Winter Maintenance Training:methods, techniques, and workouts to keep you on your bike and ready for spring time.
+ Century Training: covers requirements, preparation, techniques, setup, and training plans necessary to succeed, complete, and enjoy a century.
+ Roadside Repairs: basic skills needed when mishaps occur on the road. Basic knowledge of at home checklist and repairs will be covered.
+ Riding in Traffic/Defensive Riding: gives skills needed to ride safely along side, with, and respectfully together with traffic. Signs, techniques, things to avoid, drills to practice, and situation to be aware of and ways to handle each
+ Nutrition for Optimal Cycling Performance: for the everyday cyclist as well as the weekend warrior and pleasure rider, dicussing nutrition basics, ratios, special needs, body weight and composition, as well as tools to monitor proper nutrition
+ Riding vs. Training: covers training tips to maintain and improve fitness through: heart rate monitoring, periodization training, and various training plans to keep your riding productive and enjoyable at the same time
+ Maintenance for the Body: stretching techniques, yoga practices, message therapy and fueling and refueling your body for recovery and well-being
+ Core Concepts/Base Training: discusses low intensity workouts, periodization use, endurance, base power and strength, peak maintenance, and volume vs. intensity
**We look to local establishments and local bike shops to support the above efforts with funding
On the competitive front, Team Revolution strives to tap into
local and regional talents to find athletes looking to compete
in local and national cycling circuits. From "grassroots" and
"development programs" to elite team status; we're committing
to educate and train cyclists through clinics, coaching,
and one-on-one lessons. Here are a few of the clinics we're scheduling for the next racing year:
+ Racing 101-Spring Session: basic knowledge of race structure, movement, acceleration, incorperating "Race Ready" drills (see below).
+ Technique Development: covers drills on rollers and trainers, to enhance pedal stroke, pivot points, leverage, core use, stability, and finesse
+ Race Ready-drills: etiquette, echelons, pace lines, cornering, bumping, wheel tracking, pack movement, and sprinting (poss. JB location)
+ Finish Drills: 2-3 session clinics focusing on last 5-8 laps of a race and the different situations that arise and techniques of setup. Learn confidence and control in your finish and the way you look and handle at your surroundings. Racing is all about the finish.
